9800GX2 - New Computer! 3D Mark problems!

Then you have a hardware problem. Its not seeing both gpu's and so the multi gpu option won't appear in the NVCP.

Any ideas what I can do about this?

Thats so upsetting seeing that picture lol and not having the option. Yet it was working yesterday, although I dont recall that option!

I am now on my desltop, with no drivers installed and I see the 2 9800GX2's in the device manager!

Ill try to install some drivers, any reccomendations?

Its actually saying its stopped the device as there is problems!

Whoooooooooooooooooooo!

Back on the Road Again! I have Multi GPU technology! Ill go run 3D Mark 06 and get back to ya'll!

Cant beleive I have waited all day at work to mess about on my new PC and Ive spent the whole night panicking!

I dont think Im going to try and get Multi displays working again on this card lol

Shame but I think Ill just change the main display if I need to view it on my plasma!

Thanks allot guys! Very much appreciated! :D:D:D:D:D

You do not want your GPU sharing with a soundcard, Nvidia and creative used to be common for this.

Least moving the Soundcard to bottom PCI slot worked on AGP NF2's lol.

Back to 16000! This card is a monster! :D

Lost a couple hundred though, most likely because Ive moved to 174.74 drivers from 15X.XX.

Any suggestions on the best drivers?

To the Guy above - I dont have a sound Card, I have onboard sound which I believe will be more than good enough for me! :p

My overclocked GT gets around 95fps at that point :D

Cool man! Think mine just got about that! The Swimmig Dragon scene just got to around 130 which was nice to see!

Im going to try to stay away from 3D mark now, just seems to cause problems lol

Cool, Ill have a look!

I have a new problem! Now I have the ooption to choose between Multi GPU and Multi Display I chose Multi display.

However I dont have the option to choose clone mode? Do I not get that option anymore? If so that sucks!

You cant do that AFAIK in SLI.

If I went SLI I would loose my Desktop Extention (or clone) to my TV (use it daily for movies etc).

I know you cant run Multiple monitors in SLI but can run 4 Monitors if not in SLI.

SLI has been out a while, SLI2 will be better and may fix all this.

Oops! Ive done it again, disabled SLi! I was messing with multiple displays and it just went again!

The only problem is this time I cant get it back!

I fixed it last time by uninstalling all the drivers and then when the PC started up it showed the 2 9800GX2's but as not working. Then all I had to do was install the latest drivers.

However now, whenever I start the computer up after uninstalling the drivers it keeps installing a standard VGA driver. Im really ****** now!

Any suggestions and I promise not to mess about again! :D

Im really stuck guys! It keeps installing the stupid VGA driver which seems to ignore the fact that its a Dual GPU!

I have no idea how to get out of this, I just cant enable SLi again. I cant understand why this is so difficult to do!

After the standard forceware uninstall restart and let windows install a replacement generic driver then restart again. Then install a fresh copy of forceware and restart again... at that point you should be good to go.

That's usually the method i use and i've never had any problems.

IMO the GX2 really isn't a dual monitor piece of kit as it becomes a faff switching between dual gpu and dual monitor.

I only get 14k overall though so your 9800gx2 is definitely on track again

Ill give that a go now! Ive never restarted after the PC installs that stupid drivr lol

Im having problems here! I just cant get the PC to realise that its a dual GPU! It just keeps installing a standard VGA adapter.

How do I get it to think that the Graphics card has just been installed?

I really need help guys. The computer will just not recognise the card as a Dual GPU!

I am completely lost.

The time I got it to work, I started the PC up and it said there was an error with both cards and allowed me to install the new drivers. However, whenever I install new drivers now it just stays as a single GPU!

The PC I got came overclocked, If I re-installed Vista would it get rid of any overclocking settings?

Have you stripped the drivers out completely, in safe mode etc?

Reinstalling the OS wont effect the overclock, settings are stored in the bios.

I wonder if you have some sort of interrupt conflict? Any other PC's you could try it in? Don't rule out a faulty card, its shouldn't be difficult to make it function. More or less plug and play.

Done the Safe Mode thing!

I might just go with Re-Installing Vista! Would a repair do the same thing?

Im hoping its not faulty! I really dont want to waste another night trying to fix this!

Another question, when I get it working, If I have 2 screens attached can I select which display is used? So not Dual display, just the ability to choose which display is used?

Basically I have it connected to the Plasma in my living room so dont need it on both displays similtaneously!
