- $599 which is about £360 by the time you add UK VAT. Probably £380+ by the time you factor in import duty.

- 600mhz core and 2000mhz memory, 256bit bus. So 50mhz slower then a stock GTS on the core, and memory 60mhz faster. So a downclocked GTS as people said. Still, if the reports are true about being able to run 2 of these for quad sli I'm guessing it should be the faster then 2xX2's in Crossfire X.

I would say £400 for the card over here then the prices might drop.

Sli does sacle worse than crossfire so unless they can sort that out i cant see 2 of those beating 2 x2's. were probably looking at similar proformance results. but oif they do sort the scaling out maybe then we will have a better card.

The running temps is gonna be intresing the x2 is a hot card and with 2 techinically larger cores ontop of each other it will be tight, I can see it heating the inside of the case up quite a lot as it seems the hot air isnt blown out the back

Does sli really scale poorly. On supported games I always found it did quite well. Not 100% increase, but still a fair increase. I did hear that Crossfire scales better though.

Me too!

I've used both a 7950GX2 and 2900XT's in crossfire and found both to scale equally well TBH.

SLi is generally given quite a bad rep - never really understood why as i'd choose their driver sets over ATi any day.

I can imagine the noise from those 2 cards will equal to an industrial hairdryer

At that price it must be a fair bit faster than a 3870X2 or Nvidia will find it very hard to shift em.

It will be a shed load more expensive than the X2 wether its faster, or even if its slower, as its 2x PCB's (literally 2x cards) slapped together, and has had some major expensive cooling solution designed for it, which they have also said your going to have to pay for, the X2 is only a single PCB (1 card, 2 cores), with the 3870 XT cooler just lengthened to accomodate both cores, so its bound to be a helluva lot cheaper regardless. :)

Id be totally shocked if it came in at less than £400, as im expecting nearer £500, possibly more, the 9800 GTX is probably going to be around the £400-£475 mark or more, just like the old 8800 GTX was when that came out.

I reckon it will be around £410-£430, and if its not hugely faster than an X2 then I cant see how they are going to sell.

yeah, GX2 will be double or more i rekon, look at how much a single GTS is, this is 2x of them, and it has a major expensive cooling solution on it, the X2 when first came out, was more expensive than 2x single 3870's before they dropped the price of them.:)

You also have to consider the 9800 GTX, the GX2 is going to be more expensive than that, the 9800 GTX is will be the top end single card, so theres no way the GX2 will be around £350, the GTX would have to be £300 or less if it was, and i just can't see that.

For about £200inc, you could get 9600GT SLI. I know its not so fast, but it'll be close to this in performance for about half the price.

for 400 quid you get trio X fire 3870s which is proven to scale as it should. Best solution for the amount of money atm IMO.

Nvidia has to reconsider the price or these cards will collect dust on the shelfs.

Is this 9000 series really nvidia's next gen of cards, or just to put more pressure on ATI's range? Have they a new core due in the next few months?

I dont understand why people are using the arguement of "its just 2 GTS's stuck together" as a negative against the GX2. You are aware that most people have mobo's with a single graphics card slot? And that most people don't want the hassle or the cost of buying and installing a new SLI mobo and the effort of getting two cards running in SLI?

People want a single card solution for graphics, so if the GX2 is actually 2 GTS's stuck together they are giving people exactly what they want, sounds sensible to me.

I think what most people mean when they say it's just 2 GTS's stuck together is that it should really be two brand new tech 9 series cards stuck together rather than two old tech 8 series cards. That's the way I see it any way. :)

The 7950GX2 was two 7 series cards wasn't it? This should be called the 8800GX2.

If it really is released at that price, I think I'll just be picking up a secong 8800GT

And an sli mobo I presume!?

Makunouchi's got it spot on I reckon. Nvidia are all too aware that they're chipset isn't the best or most popular with enthusiasts and see this leaves a gap in their gpu line up.
