I am looking to upgrade my 9800XT and wondering what the best option would be with a new MB and graphics card?

Dont really have a budget but dont want to go over the top. Just looking for an improvement at the best price. I currently have a AMD 64 3400 setup, so looking along that route rather than pent.

Thanks

Let me get this, you want to switch to PCI-Express or stay with AGP?

A64 3400 - ill gues you have s754 (yes i know there were some s939 OEM A64 3400+ but the chances you have it are slimmer).

Either way though if you get a PCIE motherboard i would say the X1800XT 256MB will keep you going for a long time after. I also think its the best bang per buck card arround.

Well if no budget then (+ new mobo - do you need Socket 754 or 939? )...
  • Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO) £136.95 - Best value vs performance GFX at the moment :D
Also hope your PSU (& to some extent case) is up to the card/upgrade. Need a ATX2.0 spec PSU with 18A or more on the +12v line & at least 350w's (see here then here). If not I'd seriously consider upgrading that first
