980ti overclocking

my reference is stuck at 1450 core. Cannot get it above that. Tried 1500 but it crashes within 3-5 minutes. Temps are a non issue due to my 3rd party MK-26 cooler but yeah. Granted im not the best overclocker in the world...

I had a similar experience with my 970 and an mk26. Awesome cooler. Keeps the core so cool. Problem is the chip heatsinks I just couldn't get the correct ones to stick proper. So now I'm under water my overclocks can go a lot higher.

Mine is a KFA2 card that came clocked at 1025mhz. I can increase this to 1225mhz and the memory can be increased to 8000mhz. Runs lovely on all games I've played e.g. GTAV, Ryse, Wolfenstein. You can maybe get more depending on the card but I get some glitching the nearer to 1275mhz. Average temp with 100% load is around 67C air cooled.

that's base clocks? or set boost?
whats the actual boost getting to in game?

Have you tried increasing the vcore?

^^
Grab a modded bios that gets rid of the power limit as well. Overclock.net

My 980ti wouldn't go past 1450 on air but under water with my new bios I'm getting 1530 in bf4 maybe higher, with no added volts

I managed to get my 980ti to hit 1503mhz air cooled last night. Using 1.23v instead of the stock voltage (43mV increase), 1275mhz base clock and 8Ghz mem clock. Temps around 65C in heaven with a score of 1879.
Any further base clock increases and it crashed heaven. Very impressed with the overclocking in Maxwell. I could get the 970 to OC well and now the 980ti as well and all easily below 70C air cooled, I think shows how good Maxwell is!
I am looking at water cooling but not sure it would be worth it? Could I get much more out of the 980ti?

valerislysander thats about it mate. WC will only give you less throttling due to temperature.

Just mod the stock bios yourself (custom bioses might mess up your performance and stability), and just go for 1500/2000 with 1.23V. Oh, and turn off boost clocks (nobody needs those).

1.23V is that all? :p

As for might messing up your performance and stability that's a load of BS!

Been running a custom bios since last year issue free.

Obviously your not aware of this thread:

People are getting 1600 on the core with these bios's. A lot of work and testing has gone into them.
