980ti sli problem

Hi all,

I currently have a weird problem with my setup. I have two 980ti matrix platinum cards and one of them developed a fault. So I sent it to asus and had it replaced. Now I tested it and it works perfectly...however when I connect them in sli I get really bad fps. In game for example bf4 on a single card I get 130fps when I connect the 2nd card I get 60fps and the load light on them remains blue with sometimes changing to yellow ( under load). Before they used to be both yellow when under load. Msi afterburner shows 80%-90% load on both but the lights remain blue. They are both recognised in manager and in nvidia control panel. Sli is enabled and physxis set to automatic. I have reinstalled the drivers 3 times I even reformatted and am still having the same issue. I've tested it on 3dmark and my fps is 30-40 and they don't show load. I've changed my power setting to high perfomance and still nothing.

I've checkedin bios and both are showing fine. Both cards work perfectly when tested individually. I've tested a different sli bridge and still the same issue. Any ideas?

I have them in the correct pcie slot too. 8x 8x.

My setup is:

Asus maximus extreme viii
I7 6700k
16gb ddr4 corsair dominator
Samsung 950 pro m.2
2x wd black 1tb each
Corsair rm850.

Everything was working perfectly before the card developed the fault. Would be great full if anyone can shed light.

Have you got an aggressive Overclockers on the cpu and or gpu?

You have checked so much that it may well be a faulty MB?

Experts will help more sorry

Thanks for your reply. I did have an overclock but set it to default. It was working fine before can't see why it would be the motherboard. Would trying a different pcie slot show if there is a fault?

Just a thought.. Is v-sync definitely off. Just on bf4 you went from 130 to 60.
Although that wouldn't explain the other problems.

I have just noticed when benchmarking with heaven one of the cards memory clock stays stock but the gpu is under load. While on the other hard both gpu and memory show load
