hi. Posted else where my problems but seems there are quite a few of us with 980tis not been detected on z68 chipsets. Can people list in here what motherboards they have with a z68 chipset and whether the 980ti is working?

I have a asus gene 1v z68 gen 3 z version with up to date bios. It's fine with my 970 but 980ti is undetected in bios or windows and just a get a no display signal from my monitor.
Thanks.

I have requested a rma with the card but I need to decide do I buy a new motherboard and cpu or get a replacement card but starting to think it's not the card!

Where abouts in the country are you fella? It's more than likely that the card is fine and it's a compatibility issue (and hopefully someone near to you can test for you)

Friend of mine had a similar issue with his 970 but a bios update cured it...

The problem with an RMA is that they will test the card, potentially find it works, then return it to you as "no fault found", whilst charging you for testing and shipping. I don't know if that is 100% ocuk's procedure, but certainly other retailers would do this.

I would simply return using DSR (or whatever the new legislation that replaced it is called).

Do you maybe have a friend or a family member who could test the card in their system because it may well be a DOA card and a replacement would solve your issue, whereas returning it without knowing it is the card is going to put you off getting another 980Ti to try.

the last bios was 2012

i not long got a 750ti and had to update to a late 2013 bios before it worked, granted not your motherboard but most people have the same issue if you look around. Are you running in UEFI mode or legacy?

*ge force forums*I have a Z68 mobo, Asus MAXIMUS IV GENE-Z/GEN3. And it works fine with my 980TI clear cmos fixed it for him

I have an asus p8z68 deluxe (latest bios) and all is fine here with the evga 980ti

I think mine is a slightly newer board than yours as mine is pci-e 3.0 and yours is 2.0 so mine should work. What is the date of your bios. Mine is the latest one but last bios was late 2012. Should I update the Intel chipset drivers or would that not make a difference in bios?

sorry mate i don't have that bored i was qouting someone of the ge force forums.

enter your bios and see if you are running in legacy mode or UEFI.

You have to remember UEFI basically limits what hardware we can use unless they allow it from bios with updates.

i'm using my 750ti on a dell 1155 board i had to update the bios right through until 2013 until the card finally worked.

your probably going to find that the gpu is not supported by the board

try reset cmos
check make sure your mobo is not set to secure boot option

Chipset drivers won't make a bit of difference, they don't kick in until the OS is booting. If the card won't display a picture on post or in the bios it is a hardware issue

I agree about your last point regarding testing the card in another machine. I definitely do not agree with the point you made about a problem with RMA is that if the card turns out non-faulty you are charged for shipping and testing it. THe RMA process is fair. If you're unsure that the part or another part is to blame and you want someone else to find that out for you then you are charged for that which is fair,if the returned part is not faulty. If it's returned under DSR and turns out to be faulty it will likely be only found out when another customer finds out which is not fair on them.

At this moment the card is potentially faulty so the honest thing to do is to RMA it unless OP can determine beforehand whether it's indeed faulty or not. Some sellers may not charge anyway if situation explained and it turns out non-faulty.

I can't find a option to run in legacy mode, pretty sure it's uefi only?

Also, what is secure boot option, I can't find that in the bios?

I cleared CMOS, no difference, boot option was set to legacy already. I turned on the onboard vga card with the gigabyte 980ti still plugged in and connected onboard vga to monitor, when I went into bios into gpu details, it was blank, then it said nvidia gpu installed a few seconds later, booted into windows via the onboard vga and no nvidia Gfx card found.
I'm pretty sure the card is duff. It must be as someone else on GeForce forums has the same motherboard as me and they have it working.
