980ti with a z68 motherboard not detected.

I have spoken to the support team at oc. They were brilliant, I am sending it back as faulty. If it is faulty, they will replace with a new one, if it works, they will refund my money and then I will buy a new cpu and motherboard. I'm pretty sure card is faulty as seen others with z68 chipset got it working and because my 970 works which is also maxwell chipset, this 980ti should also so we think I just got unlucky and got a duff one!

Either x99 or wait for skylane and keep the 970 until next year. My 2500k is still fine at present a 4500 though.

if your ever gonna go SLI go x99 as skylake will be limited to 24 lanes where with x99 you could get the 40 lane CPU and go quad sli 980Ti lol

Well, I have to say, what fantastic service from overclockers!
My card was rma on Monday, it was collected on Tuesday for free, been delivered and tested today, it WAS faulty, a new card has already been dispatched next day delivery. That is OUTSTANDING customer service and I will never order anything from any other company in the future.
Hopefully the new card will work from the get go and I will confirm tomorrow night when it has arrived.
Thank you so much ocuk.

Good news, Good news and Bad news.

Good news, It works, second good news, Its got NO coil Whine, Bad news...... GOD, its so bloody noisy! I have a gtx970 gaming gigabyte g1 and this new card is twice as loud as that so i reckon its going to be getting sent back and swapped for a MSI gaming as they are meant to be a lot quieter. Will way it up over the weekend. Got me a 20000 firestrike score though and running nearly at 1500MHZ on boost but because it has such small fans, they whine such a lot, anything over 60% is far too loud for my system.

Was it a reference card? Reference means that it has a blower style, one fan blowing over the back of the card, don't want to sound condescending but just wanting to let you know what it meant if you didn't know what it meant. (I'll shut up now) :o

Everyone on the main 980ti thread is saying the msi is way quieter. Is has 100mm fans vs 80mm fans so it will be quieter. I have 2 140mm intake and 2 140mm outtakes. Running around 800-1100rpm.

Okay hope it goes well for you, I have to admit I am no expert on GTX 980ti cards as I have no interest in buying one :) (Oc if I had £600 spare) :p
