I've been trying to get the 980x Stable at either 4.2 ghz or 4.4Ghz but every time I get random blue screen crashes either working or system idling.

I'm using rather pathetic PC3-10600 (1333MHz) memory and it seems to be the root of the problems.

Everything checks out otherwise and its on an Asus Rampage 3.

Any thoughts? Worth swapping to the fastest memory now?

I can't get any overclock with it stable. It fails at 4, 4.2 or 4.4

Memtest came back fine

It runs fine at stock.

the only variable in the system is the memory or MB but the system works fine at stock speeds, so im convinced its not MB

The 2000mhz will be ok, but I would stick with 1600mhz.

2000MHZ offer no real performance increase, I would suspect the average user would not notice any performance changes in day to day use.

Still crashing! fine at stock with new ram

doing a bios upgrade, last thing i can do.

prob a waste of money but was a slight upgrade 10600 to 12800

RANG OCUK and said no point RMA Chip/mobo as it fine at stock speed.

I seem to have got it stable slightly below where i was having problems.

Needless to say i was following 3 or 4 proven overclock settings. 6months of trying to get it right so might just leave it their.

For anyone following this or in future:

RAMPAGE 3 EXTREME MB- Very sensitive to voltages, make sure all voltages are correct not just the "norms".
