99 pence

Yeah, I agree. It's a bit silly to still be using this method especially with todays price conscious consumers. Surely MOST people nowadays will know that there's only a 1 pence difference between £3.99 and £4. :rolleyes:

What do you mean 'nowadays'? :p 15 years ago was it harder for people to distinguish the difference between £3.99 and £4? :D
 
In this day and age psycological pricing has little to do with it, and is more about preventing theft by employees.

Instead of just pocketing the £2.00, the employee is forced to open the till for change.
