If you was going to do a new build now what cpu would you go for, this is just for a pure gaming build no streaming or anything like that.

Thanks

How long do you keep a Pc before upgrading?

2yrs or less, get the 9700K. 3-5yrs get the 9900K.

Those extra threads will come in handy for a long term build.

looks like what you may save on the CPU cost will be cancelled out by the expensive motherboards plus Intel CPUs can run very well with slower, cheaper DDR 4.

The R5 3600 is just 200£. Since op is considering Intel 9th gen, then pcie4 is not needed. A cheaper MSI B450 carbon can handle even an 8 core for 120£. Most 9th gen are paired with 3600MHz ram or faster, which is the ideal speed for Ryzen 3000.

But, after tomorrow, it might be hard to find the R5 3600.

wait for tomorrow then buy a intel 9 series chip. for gaming intel have it locked down. people will argue multicore what you need and single core ipc and frequency intel are the king for gaming. will be for years to come .
