Hi All, I'm having issues with my new build

9900k, Z390 Aorus Master (Upto date BIOS F5, then F6), 32gb 3600mhz 8-Pack T-Force Ram (Using XMP), Zotac 1080 extreme , 960evo SSD, H115i Platinum 280mm . Was using 970 evo but cut it out due to troubleshooting. EVGA Gold Plus 850w psu.

I've had 2 issues 1 I think I've fixed.

1- While playing games the game would close without warning and crash to desktop, no error message nothing. I reinstalled Windows 10 and this seems to have been resolved.

2- After a while my PC will begin to freeze for a few seconds at a time, this gradually gets worse until I restart the machine then its fine again.

Steps taken:

1- Reinstalled Windows
2- Removed new 970 evo and used previous boot drive 960 evo.
3-Updated Bios to latest version
4- Installed all drivers from Gigabyte website
5- Only installed bare minimum other software
6- Left other storage disconnected

The machine itself any other time runs like silk, completely smooth. I've left the OC for now it boosts to 4.7ghz out the box and it sits at that all day no issues. Temps are great on the 9900k I've not seen above 72 and my 1080 highest 80. Both temps recorded during AIDA64 stress test Cinebench also fine as well as 3d mark. Even the temps on the SSD top out at 48 during stress test and that has a beefy heat sink on top of it.

To be honest I'm stumped I'd don't know whats causing by stuttering issue and I don't know what caused my crashing out of games issue. I'm assuming it could be a driver issue, I cant see it being a cooling issue due to good temps.

If any one has any ideas please share I would appreciate the help.

You could try recording the XMP settings and inserting them manually in the bios.
Manually increase the memory voltage.
Run memtest on the memory.
I tend to let windows manage drivers and do not use motherboard drivers (except for ethernet on first bootup).

Yeah I just let windows install most of the drivers I rarely use the disk. First time I downloaded from Gigabyte website. I am running everything at stock currently.

Ran memtest no problems. Also reset CMOS. Today it crashed out of game with an error message The instruction at 0x01764b69 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read.

Now getting Hardware fails in AIDA64 but still stuck for the cause

Found the issue it didnt like the X.M.P. I removed it last night and had 4 hours with no issues before running out of time. Currently running at 2400 which is well below spec but I will test for stability before raising this.

Not sure if this is relevant to your problem but there does seem to be a driver issue with the Corsair cooler. You might get the USB connect/disconnect sound in Windows. The current work around is not to use flashy RGB settings and go for something static. There's a thread about it on the Corsair forums.

Thanks Thumpsta I did notice I have some USB disconnects when transferring files to usb drive haven't even considered troubleshooting that yet. However I didnt notice any disconnects last night but I didnt do any file transfers.

no its the 3600mhz pack

https://www.overclock.net/forum/6-i...ressive-auto-memory-timings.html#post27688788 Run these timings manually and you should be ok. That's what I'm doing on my Aorus pro with the 4000mhz kit. C3phyer has your exact model so I imagine it'll work for you also.

I tried repeatedly to get help from @8 Pack @GIGA-Man and even went to team group support and official GB forums but there seem to RAM limitations with how Gigabyte boards are made. Buildzoid confirmed this in his Master video recently where he talks about his Pro board being poor with mem on a kit which he uses in all his OC testing.

My summary would be to either manually tweak the memory to the best you can like I did or do the safe option which is to return it and get something that's on the qualified list for that board.

I can post my exact timings tonight if you're still having issues.

Man its not the memory sticks..............ITS THESE GIGABYTE BOARDS............They work fine on ASrock board at 50% the price.... what do you want me to do?????????????????????????????????????? I tried a lot to get Gigabyte to fix this stuff.....I support them in testing.....The 3200mhz kit can almost always do 4133mhz with good CPU IMC on ASUS similar priced board..... The kits are the absolute highest quality, highest B die, Special PCB etc etc....

Qualified vendor is also a joke..... so if you think that works when microcodes etc change all the time your sadly mistaken...

I made it clear that it's an issue with the boards but there is a general assumption that people have issues. That said enthusiast memory is a joke. You're paying a premium for a product that is a crap shoot because you just stated, you have not only have board manufacturer variance but compatibility on "QVL" can change with just a bios update.

Speaking of microcode, the latest Aorus Pro wifi board has a microcode update which I'm afraid to do as I have no way of knowing what it'll do to my timings since I can't run XMP.

Enthusiast memory is area overall where the whole supply chain needs to step up their accountability.

All other boards are fine providing IMC is good.... Gigabyte is a lottery.....Don't update if its working....Never update if its working!!!

Robert thanks for the heads up on that info on timings. My plan was to set the timings manually once I'd full exhausted troubleshooting. Plus after 4 days I was just glad to get some gaming done. I've looked around and Gigabyte do have a lot of issues when it comes to RAM and I have no complaints about the Quality of the 8-Pack memory they seem top draw specially with build quality I just cant wait to unlock their performance potential.

The tref settings are totally out on these boards... Manually set this stuff to get boot then performance...
