I’ll be looking for a custom one with that kind of spec. ASUS etc will dump W11 Home on you and only populate a single NVME slot, so I’ll avoid the take-it-or-leave-it offerings.

Hopefully there will be a lot of design wins this time around. 5xxx vs 4xxx will also be interesting give the relative lack of core and power increase. The uplifts on the desktop side doesn’t paint the greatest picture unless they have found significant efficiency improvements on the laptop side of things. No the marketing guff will all be about the 5070m matching the 4090m…….

Just ensure you turn on multi frame gen and DLSS performance otherwise it will crumble under its own wet lettuce masquerading as a memory bus..

What would be your go to place for custom laptops? Most I have seen look like they have terrible chassis and would struggle with cooling.

OcUK sell laptops, so any talk of competitors is not allowed.

Google is your friend

Not if they don’t sell the models in question.

Hmmm, just to check in on that one then, would just the talk of the manufacturer of mine be a problem? Hasn't generally been previously.

Considering some of the old contacts OCuK HAD, am a little surprised you aren't doing the custom laptop side (at least funnelling traffic at someone for a cut).

Unfortunately with the 50 series we had to go with Intel so that we were ready for launch.

AMD is planned for the future but for at least 6 months it will be Intel.

Appreciate the possible need to be a little "cagey" - who's chassis is it? Tongfang, Clevo or something else?

JUUUUST as there will be comparative reviews for others and a feel for cooling/build/etc.

Said with interest in/purchase considered, don't get me wrong at all :D

They are using Clevo Chassis for the Pinnacle range (Clevo X580WNS-G).

There are custom options with the 9955HX3D but its a different chassis design (looks like a Legion but with the Water Coooling add on option). Overclockers don't appear to have any of these as all the Pinnacle range are 18" (why no 16" models?!).

Oooh, I'd missed 4x Ram slots.
I saw + mildly impressed with 4x NVME, would let me bring a last 1TB drive in from the cold or go pretty heavy on storage without the "this is the biggest consumer drive size" premium, currently a 2+4 setup with a 2+1 I switch around as needed in an enclosure. 1x PCIe 5 would lean nicely into an utterly top tier 1TB for windows and some mid-low range for space.

Mine gets a good bit of virtual machine use so more ram options is a + too.

As we are only just coming back into this we decided the 18" over the 16" was better for us as a lot of 16" laptops were been launched. We wanted to try and be different and go top end. We also get a lot of enquiries from Business accounts for the bigger screen so we had to take that onboard. 16" is the next target once we establish the brand and can grow. This is just our first run.

There's definitely a place for the 18". I'd think a decent number of users that would be hitting that level of machine will be largely attached to a bigger screen anyway for most of the laptops use, the "discord+browser use" screen size not being QUITE so important.

Only a thought and as you say, already one you're looking at.
