What kind of people actually buy these type of cars? This has got to be celebrities and millionaire territory, no? Or can ordinary Joe, who just happens to have come into some serious money through a house sale, for example, get his grubby mitts on one too? I wonder how the process works.

Wealthy petrolheads. Daft question, no? :p

^ Ok, I kind of asked for that but it was a genuine question :)

Three hundred of these cars have been made. More than 300 people have the resources to buy this car. Money can be exchanged for goods and services is not really what I was asking about.

Porsche dealers will have a dealer allocation for this car, probably 1 each maybe more, some dealers may not even get allocation. Typically dealers will not acknowledge a car until it is formally anounced and at that point will start to take deposits. However, cars that people know about or are rumoured will already have deposits placed and the OPC will typically have a pre-release list even before Porsche formally anounce them. OPC's will typically ask for a credit card or debit card so they can can instantly take your deposit when the car is released or on release day will simply go down the list, call the names starting at the top and first person to confirm their deposit will get a car allocated.

do they go on 1st come, 1st served with high demand models or does it work like it does in the watch world where some customers are higher priority than others ?

I think Porsche trys to ensure it's not favourtism but in reality top customers tend to be able to always get to the top of these lists.

They're offered to certain people first. My Dad was offered one of them this week but he declined.

do you not think there may be a profit to be made ?

I like how the first minute in the video is quite sedate & then it hoofs the Scirocco out of the way and starts tearing chunks out of the Ring!
Those six hundred odd Horses certainly look quite fit.

I love Porsche & I love the shape, the way the roof line flows to the rear end, lovely.
I'm not so keen on the 'bonnet' but paint the thing black & stick some black wheels on it & we could end up with some more widows :)

Epic. Just epic.

-Max. power 620hp
-Max.torque 700Nm
-Top Speed 205mph
-0-62mph 3.5 secs
-Combined fuel consumption 23.7mpg

That is an impressive engine.
