I'm looking for a 27" Monitor that will be used for many things but most importantly it needs to be good for Photo editing. At the moment I use a Dell 2408 WFP which has been a great monitor and I want something as good and hopefully better :)

What do you recommend ?

Is that based on experience of the monitor, having good reviews?

How does this compare to the Dell UltraSharp U2713H which is a bit more expensive ?

U2713H is the professional grade monitor with factory calibration and a high color gamut. So it will hit 99% of Adobe RGB colors.

The U2713HM is the more main stream monitor with a standard gamut color space and not factory calibrated.

Indepth analysis of both monitors from TFT central.

It really depends how serious you want to get into photo editing, I mean both screens will look absolutely stunning it just depends if you need the color accuracy of the H version.
If you decide you do there is a rather large premium.

Own a U2413 which is the professional grade 24 inch version.

Thanks guys, I'm not to bothered about the price just wanted the best one I could get, I'll see if there are any other options but will probably order the H on the weekend.

"best" really does depend on whether you want and need wide gamut support i would say. your current screen is wide gamut so i'm assuming you do want that in the new monitor. The U2713H would be a logical choice. Other options with wide gamut are the Asus PA279Q and NEC PA272W. The NEC is probably a more high end model with some further useful advanced features (like a decent uniformity correction). Again, depends how much you want to spend and if you need those things

Ive got the Iiyama Prolite XB2779QS, i use it for photo editing and 3ds max with a bit of gaming on the side, excellent colours and contrast.

some people reported some light leak but i've not had any problems. far superior to my dell i had before
