A Battlefield 2142 thread

Having the same problem now mate. To say I am jacked off about it is an understatement. I managed to sort the CD Key bit out. If you go into the folder where EA Downloader d/l the BF2142 files and go into BF2142\eagamesbf2142online_contentbf2142_na\Support then there is a Battlefield2142_code file. I double clicked that and could get on a server. Only problem now is I am getting kicked by Punkbuster for some reason. I am about to uninstall and reinstall BF2142 to see if that fixes it

This game sucks worse than BF2 for several reasons and most of them are the same as the original BF2 problems!!! :mad:

sometimes your unlocks are missing

no way to save customised soldiers

insane lag issues, even pings around 120 will now incur "connection problems" when BF2 was fine for pings up to 160.

more lag issues when walking around... simply walking around!!! you can be thrown in a completely different direction, regardless of ping.

MORE LAG ISSUES when walking around the Titan, if its moving then you wobble and judder all over the ****ing place.

1 point per kill sucks. im not a great player but im not bad, ive got my bf2 account up to 30 thousand points and i usually get between 40 and 60 points per match... on 2142 i have given up shooting people as i can make more points being a medic. utterly pointless waste of space game.

and WTF IS IT WITH COMBAT PROFFECIENCY PINS ????? IF I WERE TO FART ON A MAP I WOULD GET ONE.

Did you move the original EA downloader file for BF2142?
Anyway, redownload 2142 through EA Link, manually delete all the 2142 files and folders, then remove the registry entried by hand and reinstall

Is anyone else having problems with a linksys router setting up the firewall for BF2142 , because ive set them up fine , it worked for 2-3 days but now gone back to connection been lost again!! Anyone else have the WRT54GS v.4? possibly someone whos got it working with BF2142 could send me their Firmware..

Quick question, Should my PC be able to run BF2142 in High at 1280x1024 and be playable?

Spec in sig, X1800XT is at stock clocks.

Im enjoying the game, the only problem is that sometimes my sky disappears :S sometimes when Im inside the Titan I get this wireframe weirdness thing going on and the most annoying of all is I keep getting kicked via Punkbuster :rolleyes:

Oh and what the hell is going on with the ranks and upgrades.... sometimes they are there sometimes they aint............

Still haven't bought the game yet and don't intend to , I dunno why it's just I am not into all this future space stuff, I would rather continue to rank up in BF2, until I can be really convinced that 2142 is a far better game

I have same router but i think an earlier v not sure. No probs here apart form server side lag.

Are you uploading? Normally major cause of lag for me.
That or the server sucks.
Find a decent server and fav it. Normally find 50k servers are the best. (popularity/stability)

Mine runs it at max on 16x12 with enforced aa/af driver settings.

lol I think I've got 38 of the 5 killing streak ones.. it's rather sad when you get two pages of awards after a round.

Stoddy - there are two ways to "manually" patch PB. It has to be the single file that you down load not the pbweb downloads. I had 100% disconnects until I finally did the single file.

I've gone back to Catalyst 6.7s too as 6.9s seem to crash/hard lock my machine in both BF2142 and another game I'm beta testing.
Changed back and it's stable other than the random server disconnects that are due to the BF2142 software itself.

They had this in bf1942 too when riding the bomber wings and that!

Looks like your advice may have solved the problem. I tried earlier by manually downloading the PB ClientA v1365 for Win32 which didn't work. What I failed to notice was the pbsec.htm file. Just downloaded that and jumped on my clan server. Earlier I was getting kicked after about 20 seconds but I have just sat there for about a minute and not got kicked. Cheers fo that or I was looking at a load of pain like malfunkshun described. By the way, I had moved the original EA downloader file.

It may well just be a coincidence with the PB kicks but it seems strange that it worked fine last night when I had the old EA downloader installed yet as soon as I put the new EA Link on it stopped working

Finally re-installed windows xp, now i can install the game again. If it still freezes on multiplayer, i will be very peed off and confused!

...it works! Although the problem could return at any time as i don't know what the cause is

Oh well, time to get owning again

hehehe, does make me laugh that peeps expect EA to release a game that works ...ahwell dream on

anyways, you need to understand how the scoring works on bf2142 so try this :-

if your on your titan as say RECON, and kill 8 enemies IAR with APMs
you get 1 pt per kill extra pts for killing on the titan,
explosive badge worth 10pts and a defender pin worth 20pts
and a combat efficiency pin 5pts in total 51 pts .. easy

im glad you no longer get massive pts for revives and kills etc, it means you have to work within a squad to get the rewards ...

also, if you walk from the hanger bay on your titan over to the back you can lay APMs in the entrances the enemy use to get into the corridors, easy kills

To all those who told me to "STFU" when I said it was just a badly coded mod, then may I just say "TOLD U SO!"

now dont reply saying "it's early days, they will fix it in the next patch" cos thats not the point. You have been conned. Would you buy a car that breaks down every hundred yards and be happy with the manufacturer if they told u it would be fixed in 2 months?

Don't see how anything I do is hampered or needs a patch...

So far i've not had any issues with this game and it also seems like a better overall game than BF2. It's what BF2 should have been at the start, and it can only get better.

My spec is almost identical to yours - I run 2x AA and everything else maxed at that resolution and it's smooth as silk. Go for it
