Yeah, for me it's always an opportune moment, running around with the knife out will serve no purpose apart from getting you butchered.
I suppose the trick is knowing what moments are best to resort to the steel, it's always risky anyway, there's been a number of occasions where I've pulled the knife at the very moment they stand up and spot me, thus turning it into a knife vs Voss fight.
There's only ever one winner in that situation.

If I'm close enough I normally try and finish what I've started, a few times I've lucked out and got the kill, but usually it ends in tragedy.
 
had a bloke yesterday kill me and then two m8s who just spawned with his knife!!!
he hopped ,bounced and dived all over the show .... we laaarfed !!

one day all games will adopt DoD's crouch prone delay :)
 
BF 2142 does have a delay try jumping from a small height to behind an enemy and just see how long it takes before you can fire ;) I always get caught out by that, i try to be sneaky and jump down and try to kill them only to w8 a second or so which usually ends up with my virtual brains splattered across the wall :(
 
Right well I have had enough of these stat padders already. I love playing titan but when I get a fairly decent score it is usually out done by someone dumping ammo crates on the titan guns and getting resupply points for it. Now I am no angel and admit have done this once or twice but only for a small amount say 5 - 10 points just to bolster a poor round, but have stopped this easy point gathering technique simply as it is not right. I am so surprised that DICE didn't cotton on to this during testing or the demo release. I hope this is one of the many things that will be fixed. I mean they have stopped you just gaining unlimited points from repairing the titan guns but not resupplying them. Go figure.

Still on my quest for the knife badge but I thing I will have to wait until some infantry only maps are included hopefully in the next patch.

Just hoping that EA sort out the stat sites and let us look at all our stats without having to be in the game.
 
I spent the round trying to figure out what the statspadders were doing through the countless barrage of insults from other players, but alas I couldn't hunt 'em down. Unfortunately the next round they had all left.

Safe to safe I now know the reason why the Top 50 or so players are so ahead of the rest of us. Puts a bitter taste in my mouth, but oh well, just have to let them be and maybe one day, one day *sigh* EA will sort the issue out.

edit: just remembered that the scores were going up really, really fast and that they weren't on the titan throughout the round.

I was only on the 50K server with most of the OcUK lot last night for a few mins as all three(50K) servers would not load my stats/rank! All of the rest were fine, I ended up on the *ZhG* server and had a blast :)

Send that screenshot to EA, there stats should be deleted.
 
Kaiju, you dont have to be a commander or be *cough* actually on the titan for this glitch
IFOUNDAGLITCH who was top of the rankings has now been reset by EA after using it repeatedly to attract their attention.


guess the patch has been delayed to allow this glitch to be coded out ..

Edit : Finally got my Collectors badge and Collectors pin last night after one hilarious round of purely running around with the knife.
 
there is no ROE for 2142 atm ...

so things like exploiting the re-supply titan isnt breaking the rules
but im sure blatent cheating as shown in the pic above will be dealt with
google BFROE and see what they advise
 
One chap said i was stat padding last night and started a kick vote funny thing i was playing as assault throughout the game, i was going for my gold titan defend where you need 30 titan points even managed me assault gold with out realising, managed 121 but why would anyone think that score was stat padding its not exackly massive.
 
just realised it was members from |TOP| on that screenie above hahaha
the kidnappers themselves, quite a notorious bunch who frequent bf2s webby
the exploit they are using is sooooo ridiculously simple to do and they wont care if their stats get reset ..
EA need to hardware ban for these things , not wipe useless stats...
imho, EA should learn a lesson from this and stop stats all together ,
you could still achieve awards and badges but scrap the leader board as its not an indication of skill but more time put in ,...

after all we buy the game to play and have fun, not to wag e-penis around
