A Brief History Of iPod's.

60GB iPod Video (5G)
80GB iPod Video (5.5G)
160GB iPod Classic (Silver)
160GB iPod Classic (Black)
iPhone

The third generation of iPod is when they started to become really popular; my ownership is as poorly follows:

10gb 3rd Gen iPod
512mb 1st Gen Shuffle
1gb 2nd Gen Shuffle

I had a 1st, 3rd and 5th gen (still have the 3rd and 5th gen)
1st Gen Mini (The gf's)
1st Gen Nano 2nd Gen Nano (The gf's)
iPhone.

Blimey, I'm an amateur compared to some people.

20GB 3rd Generation (Positive: came with loads of accessories! Negative: iTunes didn't exist for Windows at the time and I was stuck with MusicMatch for a while). Cost: £299.
60GB 5th Generation (Positive: colour screen! Negative: I preferred the separate buttons to the click wheel). Cost: £229.
16GB 1st Generation touch (Positive: love the screen. Negative: 16GB isn't enough :( ). Cost: £269.

Ummm, so my iPod history is as follows:

3rd gen iPod Classic
6gb Blue iPod Mini
1gb 2nd gen Shuffle
16gb iPhone (left in a taxi)
16gb iPhone mk 2

Currently awaiting the delivery of a red iPod nano for the better half.

Might need to get myself one for the Nike+ thing as I'm about to start running.

God I forgot how awful MusicMatch was. It was so poor beyond belief. I think I ended up using a program called Ephpod to bide me over until iTunes was released.

Just look at those prices!!!

£299 for 20GB is MADNESS, but it will always look daft as time goes by.

:o

While we're on the subject of annoyances..

It's iPod. Not Ipod ;)

And iPod Touch, not 'iTouch'.

I've had:

iPod Mini 4GB 2nd Gen,
iPod Nano 4GB 1st Gen,
iPod Photo 60GB 4th Gen,
iPod Video 30GB 5th Gen,
iPod Classic 80GB 6th Gen,
iPhone 8GB 1st Gen.

Now iPod and iPhone-less though :(

And £269 for 16gb isn't?

If I'm honest I don't understand how people can actually bring themselves to buy the Touch over the Classic... I see the attraction, but I dunno if I could physically bring myself to do it...

When you pick up both and play with it a little and see the feature difference (web, wifi, apps, videos, youtube, mail) and the size of that screen. You'll understand.

True I guess, but the technology behind it has certainly jumped leaps and bounds.

To be honest I didn't realise it was £269 for the 16GB, but if you asked people back then if they would have either 1st Gen iPod or the iPod Touch for that amount of money, people would snatch the Touch off you all day long.

Although having said that, for storage issues alone the classic wins hands down. It most certainly is a well designed iPod.
