Right me and my dad were walking the dog on are usual route which winds up round to a canel then a lake then back to are house. Anyway we was walking along the canel and dad pointed out to me that the swan gave birth to 7 baby swans (dont know the name of baby swans). The two adult swans were dipping there head at one of the baby swans and then we realised it was dead and the parents were tring to wake it up.
We saw two fishing umbrellas right near the sans so we walked over to see if they new anything, and the two fisherman were two kids and they looked guilty as hell and just said they dont know. We carried on walking for about 5 minutes and we eventually got round to the other side of the lake and we could here shouting and it was two blokes shouting at the kids from the opposite end of the lake. They told us that the two kids threw stones at the baby swan and killed it, and the two blokes were phoning up the rspca.
I was slightly annoyed and went back over to the kids but i didnt heart them as im about 5 years older than them, i simply grabbed there fishing rods and snapped them and chucked some box thing with maggots and hooks into the lake, then i simply walked off.

This is my first ever encounter with chavs doing something this bad and when i hear a lot of you talking about on here i think that your all exaggerating but now i beleive you that there scum

baby swan = signet IIRC?

Id have probably done the same mate, theres low, then theres rock bottom. If you let them get away with it no problem this time then they will happily do it again.

So your reply to chav behaviour is to act like a chav yourself.
I don't agree with there behaviour or yours to be honest.

You must be strong if you managed to snap a couple of fishing rods, it's not as easy as you might think. I tried snapping a light river fly rod once and it was bloody hard, took about 5 minutes to do.

So, did you see the kids throw stones at the cygnets? What if the people at the other side got the wrong end of the stick? Whilst I think killing swans is an abhorrent act, I think that your actions were extreme and uncalled for. Would you have went up and snapped their fishing rods if they were both 6'4" rugby players?

I think you were totally out of order to be honest. Deal with it the proper way and maybe they'll learn - break their stuff and all you've taught them is to turn up 'tooled up' next time.

Don't really agree with you there, mate - sure it's vigilanteism - but you can hardly draw a direct parrell from the two sets of actions. If you saw someone beating a dog to death with a stick, would you not go over there and break the stick to stop them?

reading all these comments about bakes0310 yes fair enough some good points HOWEVER if the people on the other side of the lake were right and these kids DID kill the swan you were right in wrecking there stuff, as if the police got involved WE ALL KNOW that they would have got BUGGER ALL done to them because this countries legal system is a complete and UTTER JOKE, at least this way they got some sort of justice of course that is if they did kill the swan

Edit: also, chavs that can fish have been previously unheard of, you may have misidentified them.

U sure? I mean fishing seems to be the scally hobby of choice. Science however is yet to demonstrate how the relationship between sitting still for a few hours and the chav evolved.

So your reply to chav behaviour is to act like a chav yourself.

I don't have a problem with that. Their scum, they only care when something directly effects them, basic reward/punishment. What are the 'proper channels', the police/court/warning system they've probably been througfh weveral times? If on a higher level the authorities were willing to do similar in directly hurting them some way then there wouldn't be the problems we have now

I don't care about what you've done it seems justified but what they did was absolutely disgraceful and sick they should be be punished in some form. i loathe cruelty to animals, sick people. :(

Stupid yes but chavs no. And polluting the water with whatever was in their box was a bad idea. Fishing line must never be dumped into water.

Can't blame you for feeling angry though. Calling the rspca/police is the best thing to do. With great fishing power comes great responsibility...every angler needs to repect the water.

Dude u will get people on these forums who would act 100% appropriate in every situation, i can understand your frustration and why u did what u did

RIP Baby Swan

Indeed. They should try to wear the shoe on the other foot.

What you did was better than doing nothing. At least you didnt throw them in the river, which is what I probably would have done.

Good on you mate, did the right thing can see your anger harming an swan out of order.

-Rip Swan :(

Thats sick. Theres so much more they could be doing with their life and they decide to throw stones at baby birds and kill them.....

Another thing, chucking a box of tackle into a lake was a bloody good idea. The swans and other wildlife will love playing with the fishing line, wire traces, hooks, spinners etc...

you can't spell, and you go about wrecking peoples stuff for something you don't even know for sure happened. Which one is the chav now?
