I have a PCI g/card and a spare dvd-rom and hard drive for windows. It will be going headless and diskless when its overclocked and im happy with it. Currently installing windows . . . . :D
Its a good case, well made, and loads of spares. Comes with the antec tri0cool fan and a 380W Earthwatts PSU. Ive used it in the past. Well worth the money.

Have you thought of using the NotFred folding iso?

Personally I could never get it to write to the USB drive. But then I'm not sure how much better it is compared to running four linuxSMP clients in VMWare on x64 XP since the VMWare'd route gets the 2605 units each and every time.

Having bother going over 3. Got it to 2.98 on a +0.2 MCH and 1.4V. CPU is very very cool! I like the noctua heatsink too. Just blending the bugger now. Will run it overnight and then go for higher. I want 3.4 ideally. My E6600 does it . . .

Very similar spec to yours, but using an IP35 board. My SLACR went to 3.0Ghz straight away at 1.216v. No stress testing per se but it has been folding solid for a month.

I guess every chip is different but you should be able to squeeze some more out. :)

Looks like the P31 chipset has the same quad FSB limitation as the P965 Gigabytes had.

Managed to get 3.1. With difficulty. Still low temps, but had to put 1.45v through it. with +0.3 on the NB and +0.2 on the FSB. Temps are at 55Degrees (Thats adding the extra 15C on for the tjunc). Ive also checked it with my infrared thermometor. Its just done 18hours blend. Going to try and fold on it now. Lets give this diskless a whirl :)

Preliminary results look good . . . .
Using Notfred diskless foldign system. Booted off cd-rom, installed it to USB drives, and I will be shutting it down to remove g/card / cdrom drive to maximise the efficiency.
:D

Im a-coming Yeggstry . . . . Prepare to be stomped. You have been warned.

Can you check to see whether or not it has saved the current work to the USB drive.

I dont have time today, what i will do at the weekend, is wait until its about 3-4% into a new WU, then shut down PC. If it starts back up, then i will see. I dont even know if its going to boot from the drive yet.

Glad to see you're build went well :-) will be interesting to see how much more ppd you get more than me once you've got it settled. See you on the first page soon...

Computer says . . . . . . Yes!

I made the Flash drive a bootable ms-dos USB stick using some utility i forget the name of, and then used some other utility to write a linux file or 2 to it. Booted it from the CD-ROM and allowed it to write the installs to the USB drive. It now boots without the CD-ROM straight from the USB, and even though it says image corrupted, it seems to work fine. So im happy. Will make it headless once I try and overclock it again next week. (At 3.1Ghz right now). Running 4 SMP clients on this gives 4000PPD (ish). And in the next day or so I will be in the top 100.
