Recently got a 5870 but two small issues seem to be slowly appearing.

The first is sometimes while my computer powers on it doesn't actually power up so basically the system makes noise but no image appears on screen, current solution is to just power down and then power up again.

The second issue is occurs rarely when the system enters windows I get what seems to be a odd pixalted line appear that moves, a computer restart seems to fix this as if it was a driver loading badly.

Yeah I did reseat it, even changed the two 6 PCIE psu leads that run to it and other than my 4870x2 failing in terms of memory recently neither it or the temp 8800GTS showed such an issue.

Are you using Windows 7? I have this problem with my 8800GTS.

Although the slot it is in at the moment is technically the correct one I might shift it to another just to see.

I am using Windows 7 (64) but this wouldn't effect the system actually providing a singal to the monitor for the BIOS to do its stuff.

As to the second problem here are two pictures taken today, the first was first turn on in the morning and the second was when I turned on my computer this afternoon after finishing work:

I do wonder if this item might be caused by the AMD Accelerated Drag & Drop transcoding that installs with 9.12.

Looks to me like a driver issue or it's not connected in the slot properly, or the monitor adapter isn't quite latched onto the pins at the back of the computer.

Try the drivers first, uninstall the current ones and reinstall them, and if that doesn't work, double check the card all over and then just take more time than usual to slot it back in and connect it all up.

im havings issues with mine aswell. At certain times its seems to turn on monitor onto standby and only rebooting the system gets it back on. Tried different cables, different monitor, different drivers, bios' etc. Seems to be the card at fault :(

The PSU basically has 4 outputs for PCIE connections, tried both and that hasn't changed the power on issue.

I suspect I'll see what happens in another slot just to check, while I doubt it is the monitor I do have a spare I can check it with.

I plan to try the other monitor soon as it happens again, removing that part of the driver didn't fix the second issue shown in the images plus I had the issue under both 9.12 and the 9.12 hotfix version but both suffered from it. I will uninstall the current driver and try again. I also plan to move the card to another PCIE slot this weekend although the PCIE slots on the P6T all have a retention clip on the end of the slot to help keep it in position.

Two more updates:

Problem 1: Tried another monitor no joy, problem still exists.

Problem 2: Total driver reinstall didn't help.

Things left include moving the card this weekend.
