Some good advice, i expected some unhelpful or sarcastic people though. I'm 25 now and its about time i cured this fear. This was the first step. I remeber playing left 4 dead 2 on the flood plains map having the sound quite loud when it started thundering in that i was like whoa **** till i realised it was in the gme and i was fine
Any one whos had a bad fear of something know its hard to control and its kinda embarrassing been frightend of something not many people are. My friend has a really bad fear of sharks he cant even look at a picture of a shark hes never seen jaws even if you mention sharks he goes ape.
My granddad was in the war and he got scared when it thunderd and lightend, it would remind him of the war and been under artilary fire and other such things. He past his fear on to my mum she was much worse then me. She would cry and shake and i would have to sit with her cause she didnt like been alone.
It also didnt help i was pretty much deaf for a big part of my life when i got my ears fixed everything seemed really loud even stuff like cars and buses. So when i first heard a storm for the first time and even other loud noises like fireworks it really shock me up.
When i moved out i got over my fear untill like i said a few years ago.It struck a building right near where i was the noise left left ringing in my ear and left me shaken up. The building caught fire as well would be quite scary for some one not frightend of storms but for me it really flicked a switch in my head and all the stuff from my childhood came back.
I will book in with my gp on monday and hopefully he can do something for me point me in the right direction. I'm moving to america soon California with it been hot there i would assume there storms get pretty bad so its something i need to sort out before i go over there.
