This will probably sound very silly, but forgive me, I'm a noob!
Ok so I realised a while ago I had two old 160GB HDDs lying around, so i decided that to cut costs I would use those in my build. I won't need a lot of space initially, these will just give me 320GB until I can afford a small SSD and a 1TB HDD.

They already have old data on them, so can I format them from the bios before installing windows? I wouldn't have any other means of formatting them.

Also, how do I configure them to RAID0? Can you have your boot drive in RAID0?
They are not the same model of HDD, one is a seagate barracuda and the other is a WD caviar, but they seem to have the exact same specifications; both 7200rpm, 160GB and the same time rating.

You format them during the Windows install process, if you want to keep the data then you'll obv. need to remove it first.

You setup RAID in the BIOS, different models doesn't matter.

Old small drives will be pretty slow, even in RAID 0.
