Hello all, new to this place. Very glad I found this website.

Right, I'm about to upgrade to a new system and have a few questions...

I'm going for a Athlon 4200 64 X2 and I looking at the Abit KN9 Ultra AM2 socket, however, the non SLI version doesn't seem to say if it supports dual core on this website. I just wanted to check to make sure..link to the MB below.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-096-AB

And for memory, I'm going with 1GB of corsair DDR2 Value Select PC5300 Dual Channel Kit, and for GFX I was going to get an ATI X1950 PRO.

So in theory my new machine should look like this:

Athlon 4200 64 x2
KN9 Ultra
1GB of ddr 2
ATI x1950
Maxtor 6 V300 hard drive.

Sound ok?

Agree with Will_3rd, its a great system but your CPU, Mobo, RAM, graphics card and HD are not what I would choose. :D

CPU - e4300, 36300, e6600
Mobo - P5B-E, P5B, DS3/4, P5N 650 SLi
Mem - 2GB of pc6400
GPU - 8800 GTS 320MB
HD - Samsung, Hitachi, Seagate

I've just bought & the spec (as approved by this forum & bought from OcUK) is:
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C5 800MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400DC)
NEC AD5170 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM
BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 200GB ST3200820AS SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM
Antec NSK4400 Mini Tower Case - 380W SmartPower PSU

It is fantastic!! For a £500 machine, its brilliant!!

Thanks you guys for the quick response!

See, the reason I was going for AMD is because of the price difference. Will_3rd alternative system option is awesome, but out of my budget reach. Though that Geforce 8800 is mighty tempting.

So, think the KN9-ultra (non SLI) will be fine for my mid spec budget? IF not, is there any other MB you lot could recommended for a dual AMD system?

Thanks very much!

hope you dont mind but i would suggest you post u're budget and see what people can come up with for you, just so you can get an idea of whats available.
