A few questions from a new folder.

Most people don't ever look at the viewer and the installer I used doesn't come with it. We measure our folding performance in points per day (ppd) which you can find out using 'FahMon'. FahMon is a really good program that lets you see what is going on with the work unit (WU) you are working on.

My 8800gs gives the following

At stock (575/1438/850) - Oc'ed (600/1888/900)
5757-5764 (384pts wu's give) 3350ppd - 4150ppd
5506-5013 (480pts wu's give) 4100ppd - 5000ppd
5748-5755 (511pts wu's give) 2500ppd - 3150ppd

9800GX2 (2 downclocked GTS 512s essentially - maybe useful for comparison) - all on stock clocks:

GPU 1 (set to 80%):
5757-5764 (384pts wu's give) ~ 3500-4500 ish ppd depending on WU
5506-5013 (480pts wu's give) ~ 4200 ppd
5748-5755 (511pts wu's give) ~ 3000 ppd

GPU 2 (set to 100%):
5757-5764 (384pts wu's give) ~ 4800 ppd
5506-5013 (480pts wu's give) ~ 4800-5000 ppd
5748-5755 (511pts wu's give) ~ 3600 ppd

Thanks to shadow for the 'copy and paste' projects lists!

thanks :) ill go download it when ig et home and compair the results :)

right well i think ive done this right, ive installed the FAHMON, then downloaded the vista console client GPU2 (was the last one on the list of high performance clients for gpus, and only ove that said vista :p ) then ran it, ran the mon, said the directory where to go and now its tracking the progress..... is that right :p ? if so according to this i should be getting almost 6000ppd :D wooo thats a lot better, but i miss the pretty looking things hehe :D

one thing im curious about, is that this is the console version, awy way to get it to minimise to systray? dont like having it on the task bar :p or did i download the wrong client hehe

And the award for the most emoticonal post goes to... :D

yay i win :D where r my cookie!!! right well ive been going throught the different clients and well i like the console one now as im not too fussed about being able to see the things wiggling, however it doesnt have a minimise to systray option :( so ive now gone with the systray client with viewer for nvidia just purely for the systemtray lol is this the best one for me :) ?

Points wise, i think it gets slightly less than the console, but it does minimise to the systray and has the added advantage that you can pause the client whenever you like. If you dont want the console windows floating around, its definately the way to go.

There was something in SiriusB's SMP guide about a program that allowed you to hide the console windows, but i couldnt get it to work on vista 64. Probably not worth the effort, but you could give it a go if you wanted the extra few points per day.

I wasnt sure if it was just because it was 64 bit - never had a problem with any other 32 bit stuff, but your probably right (plus the page makes no mention of the word 'vista', which is probably not a good start!). Gave up in the end and used ultramon for a while, although not actually having two screens made this a bit of a pain... Still, at least i actually get to use some of the 24" of screen i paid for now! :D

Noob. If you read his sig you would have known :p

Ubuntu is pretty good with wifi now - its just if you have certain chipsets you could run into problems.

I looked at his sig three times to see if the OS was listed. Looks like I forgot to actually read it. :o

If you don't like the console window, you can setup the client to be a service very easily. Mine all run as services so auto-start and are invisible.
