I'll start with a little background information before i start firing away with questions. I've been looking to upgrade and have made a previous thread asking about what i should do. I had a pretty certain idea of what i was going to do but now i'm not so sure.

Basically i have a q6600 runnning on an awful dell mobo with 4x1gig sticks of ddr2 (800mhz) an antec earthwatts 650 watt psu and a sapphire 4850. I also have a 500gig sata hdd all in a cm690 case. Now for the questions.

1) would i be able to run crossfire from my PSU? i think i have 2 pci-e connectors, would my psu be suffice for crossfiring a pair of 4850's

2) what motherboard should i get? As you can tell i may crossfire a pair of 4850s so have been looking at x48 boards, is this any good? Also i'm aware that p45 can do crossfire but it would seem x48's are better at it with dual 16x pci-e slots

3)I wish to overclock too, not greatly 3ghz would do me nicely, would my current ram hold me back? as im on a budget i would rather not buy ram too however if i must i will. (it come with the dell pc i am slowly replacing, it's DDR2 800 mhz elpida stuff)

I was previously going to buy a p5q pro and not bother with crossfire however with ocuk offering 4850's at £93 im very tempted now.

psu will be fine.

4 sticks may limit your overclock but i'd try for 3ghz with it before thinking of replacing it.

x48 mobo would be fine but i'm more than happy with my p45 gigabyte mobo, if your on a budget go p45 and your current 4850.

ok so i won't bother with the ram upgrade yet which is handy as i was 30 over budget as it was wiv my planned upgrade, thing is i can get the x48 board in question for 110 was just wondering if it was worth it? Cheers for confirming my psu will be fine, thought it might be but i worry about things lol.

if you can get the mobo for £110 go for it, cos its around the same price as most p45's.

haha i'll let you know when i get the parts and sort it all out dont worry. aiming to have the parts next wednesday and then sorted by the friday. Feel free to add on what's been said tho.

well i got 350 max to spend and im buying the mobo above along with a fan controller, second 4850, sunbeam cooler and a 500gb WD caviar black.

hmmm y a fan controller? opt for a 1Tb:D like an extra £20 but ou get double the storage:D
hmm 2x4770s are better than a 4890 and they use less power is there any way to flog ur 4850?

fan controller as they're noisy as hell. still toying with the idea of 1tb so we'll see when it comes to order day. Nope no real way for me to flog my 4850, no access to MM and don't wanna put it on the bay.
