Looking at a replacing my X1600XT and at the mo I'm looking at either a HIS X1950 Pro 256MB or a second hand X1900 XTX. Is it worth going for the newer chipset? Or am I better off going for the (slightly) older flagship model? I would have though the XTX would be better but then if I knew what I was on about I wouldn't need to ask!

Cheers

Dave

The X1900XT and X1900XT-X are older, but quite a lot more powerful than the X1950Pro.

That said, I would hold off for a week. The 2900XT is due out and prices will probably drop on everything.

Agreed - wait a week.

And I would go for a second hand 1900xtx over a brand new 1950pro any day of the week.

You could also consider the 320mb 8800GTS, if you don't mind switching over to the green team.

I didn't realise/wasn't paying attention to the fact the the 2900 was coming out as soon as that. I will wait for the flood of people selling cheap X19xx series cards in a week or so.

Cheers for the advice :D
