A few shots (Procrastinating!)

Evening all.

Just thought I'd upload a few shots that I took on holiday in Sardinia last month as a distraction from the PhD applications I'm supposed to be doing.

Feel free to comment/criticise, I only dabble in photography occaisionally so don't worry about breaking my heart with any harsh comments!

All shots taken with a Sony DSC-H1.

Last one is by far the most interesting to me. I'll get to that in a bit...

1st one - I like the colours and the the way the colours merge together but there's no point of interest so it's the sort of shot I'd use as the background of another...'Bah humbug to al those who say that combinng shots is cheating'

2nd one - Exposure wise it's a really tricky subject and I don't think you could have done a lot better. Highlights are blown and the shadows are totally black. A good case for using RAW and exposing for the highlights to get the rest back in post processing. Also your focus is nearly right but just a teeny bit further back on the eyes would have been better.

3rd - Can't say this interests me a great deal. Some of the background is a bit busy and distracts from the main point of focus.

4th - I like this. I'm nit picking but the horizon is slightly off and it looks a little oversharpened. The hair shows it up. Mess around with the channel mixer in PS. I think you'll get an interesting/arty B&W shot from that.

5th - I like it. Nothing more to add. :)
 
Cheers for the comments ranarama, its always good when someone actually takes the time to write out a decent reply :) .

I agree with most of what you posted - guess I should go back to noobing around in PS lol.

Sadly RAW support is missing on the H1, that and the overly strong flash are the only things about it that really irk me.
 
How large are the photos, on 2mbs here and after 30 seconds, i'm only getting a couple of lines of some of the photos and red X's

Yeah they were working fine last night, think it must be imageshack playing up (they're not large, resized to 800x600 approx 0.5mb each).
