We are currently trialing a proxy server. Its very good.

I have just found a page on the system status that says the following

Message
The appliance's license will expire soon. When the license expires, the appliance will continue to accept user requests but will warn you regularly.

Potential remedies
To avoid any service disruptions, please contact Sophos to discuss license renewal options.

Does this mean that if our company doesnt decide to buy it we carry on using it for free but get more message that can be crossed off? (and save £$$$$

Software is meant to be licensed in a corporate environment. Just because it works it doesn't mean that you should sill use it after your license expires. Check T&C.

It's almost the same as using pirated software or using free personal/home use only software in corporate environment in which case on most occasions you have to pay a license fee.

Cant see many home users using a corporate proxy server. It has main tab options for group policy, domain connection etc

I wonder why it doesnt jsut say something on the lines of "you licence will expire and the product will stop working on..."

I would guess that it can take time for some companies to respond to server licensing issues, so rather than disable the device and stop all access to the internet, the just put up a warning so that it doesn't effect the end users.
