My friend recently purchased a CPU, mobo, ram off a guy. He bought the case gfx etc seperate and this cowboy put it together. I went down this morning as he said it wouldn't turn on. A quick glance and i noticed the mobo had been screwed directly onto the case backing plate

Anyhoo, i put it all back together and booted her up, i was in a rush at this point. I saw the bios and departed. However, i've just got a message from this friend and he said that on the bios screen it doesn't list his HDD and consequently fails to install windows.

I don't have much time tomorrow so what should i look for first? I'm 99% sure i plugged it in correctly. I just can't seem to think what i may have overlooked.

Cables and jumper settings, 'cowboy' quite possibly didnt get them set master/slave right if he was that bad.

I set it as master before i left. I just learnt that it is all fine and my "friend" messed something up :D

Some people huh
