A+G Router with built in ADSL modem ?? Do they exist ??

Im after a wireless router with built in modem.

I currently have:

1x Desktop PC with a B wireless card (Boosts to 22mb)
1x Laptop with B/G wifi card built in
1x Laptop with B/G wifi card built in running Media Centre 2005
1x XBOX 360 with A/B/G wifi adapter


I currently only have a D-Link router which is only 802.11b but has speed boost to 22mb

Its much too slow for streaming video from the media centre laptop to the xbox 360 so I need to upgrade

The idea of getting an A/G router is to have everything running on the G network bar the xbox 360 which will use the A network and the Media Centre Laptop will be hard wired into the router. I will also need a PCI G network card for the Desktop PC obviously.


Trouble is I cant find anyone who makes an A/G router with a built in ADSL modem... Ive tried Linksys, D-Link, Netgear with no luck they all need seperate modems :\


Anybody know who makes one, if any ?

You could allways add a A/G wap and diable the existing kits b wireless (not that any a/g kit is easy to find in the UKl)
 
Thanks for the idea, ive done something similar to what you suggested but Im going to get rid of the D-Link wireless router

Ive ordered a Netgear Router with Dual 802.11G & 802.11A both running at 108mbps :D
And im trying to pick up a matching Netgear standalone ADSL modem to stack underneath it.
 
Just wondered why do you want the Xbox 360 running on the A network, would it not be easier just to run everything on G?
 
So it has its own unclogged channel for streaming video content from the media center without suffering interferance form microwaves and Dect phones, and the obvious traffic it would run into if it shared the network with my pc's etc...

802.11a runs on 5Ghz
802.11b/g runs on 2.4GHz

This is why the official xbox 360 wireless adapter supports 802.11a so it can have a channel to itself while other stuff runs on the G channel


With the kit im after I will be able to maintain a 108mbps network on the G channel between my PC and the router (using all Netgear super g kit) whilst the xbox 360 will run on its own 54mbps

In an ideal world I would use a Netgear 108mbps wireless network bridge on the 360 so I could run both networks at 108mbps but netgear havent released one yet :(

It's still rare, and other than your one example, it's still pretty expensive versus 802.11g kit. Doubt you'll find an 802.11a/b/g ADSL router - suspect closest to ideal you'll get is a separate router and access point.

Works fine :)

Its touted as an xbox live compatible/recomended router but beware of buying this model in the uk because I believe its only a 54mb router without 802.11A support over here.

Mine has US firmware and has to be set to US to work at 108mbps
