A good amp to go with B&W 603s

I have had a look and many recommend either NAD or Marantz, some Rotel. Has anyone got B&Ws with any of these?

Marantz pm7200
NAD352
NAD C372
Arcam A70
Arcam Alpha A9

Roksan, Naim and parasound, Rotel RA-02 (or new model of RA-02, - RA-06?)

I think my NAD320BEE goes great with my 601 S3's. Perhaps a more powerful version of this amp?

Thatll be the NAD352 or NAD C372 i think. How does it sound? I loved the 'warm' sound of my Marantz and really dont want to get an amp that will make it sound very neutral/cold

I think the amp is not as warm as a Marrantz (but I've not listened to one), certainly isn't cold though, very exciting well controlled sound. (They are certainly not as warm as my Audio Technica ESW9).

Perhaps wait for the opinion of someone who has tried both.

I listen to a lot of trance (hard, psy, goa etc), dubstep and hiphop if that helps.

However i also have a mozart and bach cd collection, along with many rock/metal cds!...

I'm using a Rotel RA-04 with my 602 S3s... I listen to similar to music as you (trance etc) through them and it sounds great! :)

I've got some B&W speakers paired with an Arcam amp, sounds good.

B&W speakers with a NAD amp also works very well in my experience.

I seem to remember Rotel themselves using B&W speakers with their gear, but to me, from experience, this is very, very bright and not a good combination.

For the type of music you listen to I would say go for a NAD amp with your B&Ws but everyone is different, it may not sit right with you.

Note that the RA-01 is the same as the RA-02, just the later has an IR port. I got an RA-01 in black (don't want ugly silver about) for £110 about a year and a half ago, possibly a bit more, and it's been faultless. Ace piece of kit, feels like it'll last a lifetime.

What does the 'warm and soft' mean in relation to the Arcam?

I'll let someone else give that description, I always struggle to put it in to words, it's very easy when you can listen to the difference though. If I had to give a description I would say a warm sound is a sound that is all around you and easy to listen to, whilst the opposite of that is very aggressive and in your face. Personally, I prefer the warm sound; Arcam amps have a nice warm sound whereas I find Rotel amps a tad bright for my liking.

Or looking into a C370...the plot thickens

The C370 is a well regarded amp.

Arcams have quite a laid back sound signature so they work better with speakers that have a bit of life to them, Monitor Audio ....DALI ...B&W 6 series.

NAD have a similar sound and would sound good with the B&W's you have, the Arcam DIVA range can be had for good prices 2nd hand ...i used to have the DIVA A90 integrated + P85 power bi-amped and they sounded very good for the money and a step up from the NAD range.

I shifted my monitor off the Marantz and it was like a hot plate under the monitor. I had 2 big heatsinks covered. Now testing with it off so the heat can escape, dont really see how this would have caused the music to randomly turn off then come back on when changing volume but anyway, we will see
