I thought I'd make this thread to see what gigs you folks are looking forward to this year.

For me its -

Tonight - The Wildhearts at the Charlotte in Leicester
June - Download Festival (Iron Maiden and lots of other great acts)
August - Tool at Brixton Academy
October - Kamalot at some club in Dudley (Can't remember exactly)

I'm hoping to see the Dio fronted Sabbath, Heaven and Hell also and I might see if I can grab a couple of tickets to see Rush.

So what is everyone seeing this year? Doesn't have to be rock or metal.

Ozzy in June, hoping to get tickets to see Steve Vai in July.. apart from that, no specific other plans unless the current G3 tour hits these shores :(

Been to see:

Babyshambles @ Manc Apollo (shudder :( )
James Taylor @ Blackpool Opera House
James @ M.E.N.

Going to see:

Manics @ Preston Guild Hall this sunday :D
The Police @ M.E.N. October
Bill Bailey @ M.E.N. November

Bog all. It's a really rubbish year for gigs for me.

27th May - Akercocke, Underworld
28th May - To-Mera, Underworld
7th July - SikTh, Biomechanical, Islington Academy
8th July - Elektrofest, Islington Academy
22nd September - Xandria, Underworld
19th October - Doro, Dylath-Leen, Weize/Belgium
20th October - Leaves' Eyes, Epica, Weize/Belgium

Saw them in Cambridge on the opening night of the UK leg of the current tour.
Trust me you're in for a top night this Sunday - they rocked.

Never, do you know if they have announced any of the support acts for the gig?

Not sure, just want to confirm that you should indeed be very excited, they put on such a good show.

Highlight of the year so far was Joanna Newsom at the Barbican, with the London Symphony Orchestra. While I'm a shamefully fawning follower at the best of times, it really was one of the most stunning gigs I've seen.

Off to the second weekend of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival tomorrow: Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, Battles, Cornelius, 65daysofstatic, Slint, Shellac and Isis to name but a few. Should be amazing now I've warmed to the new Minehead venue. I miss Camber, but I do appreciate its failings as a decent festival venue. Though I think it's unlikely to better the first weekend a fortnight ago, curated by the Dirty Three. Good times.

Following that is Cornelius again next Tuesday, and then once more with Matmos on July 1st :D. His live performances are superb, and since his touring is infrequent, they're not to be missed.
