They probably has one on a speed gun, and obviously we know how fast a man can run already.
That or they attach a piece of beef on someone's ass and throw him into the edge of the lake.

Not really, they know the top speeds of both animals. If the hippo's top speed is faster..then it can run faster than a man.

id drop on one knee so that it would half go over me, then i would raise myself with it on my shoulder. then to show it whos boss, i would do a set of 10 squats straight into 10 shoulder presses. then body slam it, finally dropping the peoples elbow!

hippo are very protective over water - if you get between a hippo and sorce of water (river/lake) it will charge and it can bite a human in half in one go and besides if you fell underneath it it would crush you to death.
and yes i can out run a hippo - i never go on walking safaris alone and make sure there is a slower person always next to me.
