Out of interest do universities still vary the grade requirements at the offer stage on a person by person basis to get on a specific course? Or do they just have a standard offer and then sort that all out in clearing if those grades have not been reached?
I remember when I went to Uni (depressingly 20 years ago!) that my required grade to get on my course were nothing like the standard published grade to do it (which gave me some issues as the actual offer to get on the course I wanted ended up being one of the very lowest I had rather than one of the highest so getting a backup I was happy with was difficult) and I wondered if the same happened now?

There are still fluctuations in the difficulty of an offer for a course but generally most of the offers are 'standard' in that they give the same offer to nearly everyone and make up numbers if necessary after results day through clearing or accepting applicants who missed the offer by a small margin.
