Ok so I built my comp a little while ago and have a 1Tb hdd and an ssd. I installed windows to the ssd and I cant seem to get anything to save to the hdd as it dosent give me the option. So I would like to know if i can change my primary drive to the hdd? as the ssd is filling up. Thanks

Can you see the 1TB drive in the BIOS, in 'My Computer' and in the manage part of Computer Properties?

Have you formatted the drive and initialised it?

Andi.

when you install anything you can click custom instead of express and then point it to the hdd instaead of the ssd

it will prompt you as your installing it

OK so what do you mean by "it doesn't give me the option"?

Andi.

I mean anything I download e.g. games or films automatically gets saved to the SSD not the HDD, I have nothing saved into the HDD and the SSd is filling up fast. This makes it annoying when using steam as it gives me no option where to save games as steam is on the ssd.

You need to change the download path when you download anything. Usually it'll give you a choice on larger files or when you install the program you're downloading something else with. Check the options and change the default download path to the other drive. Also change the folder you download to from your internet browser to a folder on your other drive - just create a new folder on the drive called 'Downloads' and point your brower to that instead of the folder on your primary boot/windows drive.

Sometimes Windows will by default download and install straight to your primary drive if a program is very small and 'won't make a difference'.

You can add a new folder to the user library by selecting properties on the Library item in Computer. Add a new folder on the HDD and set that as the save to location.

At least I think you can ;-)
