A lot of upgrade advice needed please.

Well...received the package and I'm really disappointed. The motherboard didn't have an I/O shield or any sata cables with it.
Spoke to OC who said that they'll get Gigabyte to send them, but it'll be nearly a week before I receive them. I was really looking forward to building it today :(
 
Ok, it's built. But...I can't get any sort of display coming from it (monitor says 'no video input') whether i try hdmi or dvi, gpu or motherboard...no display at all.
Also, sometimes it starts and runs ok, other time it just splutters and tries a few times but keeps turning off within a second or so.
Any ideas?
 
All power connectors connected to motherboard and GPU - the motherboard often gets the 8 pin for cpu power missed.

Also try a CMOS reset.
 
I've just tried the reset, but no luck :/
Everything's definitely connected, including the 8 pin (well...theyre 2 r-pins?)
As for the 24 pin, for my psu it's a 20 pin with a separate 4 pin next to it. I'm guessing that's normal?
 
Aye, I've tried all that too. Tried both in different slots, and single sticks too.
At the moment all that's being used is the motherboard and CPU (plus the 24 pin and 8 pin PSU connections)
It either gets stuck in a constant loop of starting and stopping with the psu's led light going on and off, or on the occasion where it does keep running, the PSU led doesn't stay on past a second or two, and there's no video output or anything.

Could it be faulty motherboard/ram/cpu? (thanks for all your help by the way)
