I've not posted pictures for a while so I thought as I've posted this elsewhere I would share it here also. :)

Second outing with my new 100mm macro, trying different apertures, ISOs etc with flash to get good exposure, depth of field.
It not easy but fun all the same.

Straight from the camera, just resized/cropped.

C&C very welcome.

Lovely, different sort of angle to what you see mostly...the leaves add a nice dimension to the colours and there is a good level of sharpness in the image. Nice one.

flash setup!? looks like a daylight no flash shot to me

Check the EXIF ;) A flash was fired.

To me, that looks like you cocked up the exposure and had to pull it back from overexposure - there is something just "not right" about it. Its a nice shot as just a "shot" but as a "macro" shot it doesnt reveal anywhere near enough detail for me.

Take a look at some of Lostkat or dod's Macro shots - the detail in them is outstanding and this shot just doesnt have that same appeal.

What I am saying is - keep at it, keep working, keep experimenting with that flash and working to get the detail and it will all come off in the end.

I suppose everybody takes comparatively poor first shots though, because its all in the practice :)
