O&O I would like to trust more than Vista Defragger now :)

Iomega have been making reliable removable storage products ever since home computers have been around so I have no idea what you're on about.

The drive inside the Iomega external cases are Seagate 7200.10 disks anyway and since my Windows and My Docs internal drives are also 7200.10 I am more than happy with the performance and reliability of them :)

Well the vista defragger does not give any indication of how much a disk is fragmented other than "disks are ok" or "disks are not ok" and gives no visible status indicators on what it is doing.

Right now at over 20% fragmentation Vista defragger says my C drive is in good nick for fragmentation...

O&O is said to be a proven product too.

Reliable!? I guess you were very lucky with Zip disks then. I've been burned by the fact that they were huge pieces of ass, so there's no way I'm buying anything by that company again.

Having said that, I can't talk because my backup policy is something along the lines of "hope there's a copy somewhere else when things go wrong".

And if you used Perfect Disk it'll tell you that O&O still left fragmented files. Use one of the free ones and it'll still find fragmented files.

Vista defragger isn't doing it wrong. Just its doing it differently.

Because the defrag apps that come with various versions of Windows aren't nearly as thorough or advanced. For general use they're fine, but if you actually want something good, it'll have to be third-party.
 
Hi,

Little tip, if you use the defrag tool in Vista use the command line version, you can get a lot more info such as percentage of fragmentation etc.

The standard GUI vista defrag is rubbish for info.

Just type cmd from the run menu

and type defrag, you have a number of options such as analysis only defrag c: -a for example

defrag c: - v, gives detailed verbose logging.
 
I typed in 'defred' for some reason :confused:.

Ive still got a parrallel zip drive in my spare room, Never ever had any problems with it.
 
Iomega products reliable? What planet do you live on? :p

As for Vista defrag, it does the job just fine :)
 
If you can point me to some evidence of Iomega's current products being faulty to any degree then I will agree with you on that statement!

It's speedy, has a good drive inside and is able to transfer heat out better than most external cases \m/
