I currently have a Hiper Type R 580watt PSU. Ive had it for around 5 years and never had a problem with it. I'm thinking of upgrading to a GTX480 graphics card and have heard that in the past Hiper PSUs take components out with them.

I'm currently powering a [email protected], 4 hard drives and 1 dvd drive on my Hiper

Is this a good investment or is there something better for a similar price?

Thanks

no lol got 3 kids and theyve got a pc each 2 whom have a corsair 650 psu me and other son have the corsair 850

you may keep the psu longer than the other parts, so it is nice to have a psu with headroom for any eventuality.

Is the only difference between the hx650 and tx650 that the hx is modular? (and £20 more expensive)

the HX has a few extra connectors too for graphic cards.

it is almost very similar to the Antec new truepower 650.

and the XFX too, which isn't modular.
