for anyone who uses gnome, and hates rhythmbox (like me) but love amarok head over here and get Exaile. brilliantly laid out music player i must admit, almost identical to amarok. but nicer looking. thank the lord i found it, saves using bmp! (thought i'd share it if you already don't know :p)

Just installed this, only been using it for 20 minutes and it crashed on me. I was just updating some song info, kind of annoying really. I'm still waiting for winamp to come out for linux, so far no other player for me is better.
I do like the look of this player though, especially that fact that it can fetch guitar tab for me.

I hate Exaile! It's more like a breath of fetid air.

I found it to be clunky and badly laid out.

Amarok is so much better. And who cares what it looks like?

Could be bright pink for all I care :p

exaile would be my player of choice if it didn't make half of my tracks come out with an awful hissing noise at twice the volume of the music.

sorry to hear your bad experiences guys. i just got the newest version from the website and everything seems ok too me.. not had a problem so far. touching wood. i thought BMP was an equivalent to an older version of winamp?

why? amarok is much better than winamp (obviously this is subjective...)

If you really like Winamp, have you tried it in wine? I tried an older version when I was new to linux a few years ago and it worked ok - Wine has made some massive improvements since then.

It's probably down to me using winamp for years, i've bought a pro copy for my windows machine and I can set it up so it's a little tiny bar. I had never thought of running it through wine will give it a try.
