As much as I dislike remakes, this is one i've got no problem with. I recently watched through the old freddy films and they've aged terribly, so will be first in que to see this when it comes out.

Also very excited about Jackie Earle Hailey as freddy, not sure he'll play it as much for laughs as Robert Englund, hope he has a darker edge to him.

For the time it was made in, it was a huge success. Of course its going to age, just like everything ages. This remake doesn't look to add anything new to the horror franchise.

Well made films still look good and solid despite their age. Take the likes of Alien, Terminator, Bladerunner, all are 20-25+ years old but with the exception of a few odd scenes still look fantastic.

Maybe it won't add anything new, I don't mind. As I said a few months back about the Alien prequel, i'd rather have a excellent/good/bad/awful new alien/freddy film than no alien/freddy film at all :)

Just got back from this...it's not amazing by any means...however it's a fairly decent remake. A bit overboard with the pedo stuff in this one though.

As for the person who made a comment about the CGI hand in the bath...looked like a real hand to me...didn't come across like CGI at all.

If you watch the original series you'll find that the "pedo stuff" is fully implied.

I've watched the originals many times and in the sequels the paedophile aspect is clearly implied. However it's left a little ambiguous in the original movie whether he is a child murderer or molester.

One thing I did like...in my sick little mind...is how freddy says to nancy he's made sure she stays awake so long so that when eventually does fall asleep she'll never wake up. Almost in the sense he can abuse her over and over without killing her and she can never wake from it as she'll be so sleep deprived she falls into a coma.
