An evo 9 is a car I am very tempted by. I've always loved evos. I want something that I can sit my 5 year old in and then I can enjoy when I'm on my own. Ideally I don't want something that's could chuck up massive bills in the short term. I would always get the car serviced and it would be well looked after. My st gets oil changes, brake fluid etc... Changed regularly.
Yes and that was just one idea. Like I said, I have an st so a 335i won't be a huge step up. I just seen something shiny and liked it. I like my sporty cars and I'm not saying I want a small engined one, it was just something I liked and was an idea. I'm unsure what I want.... Which is why I asked for ideas. People that have experience on cars within my budget and can tell me how it's ran and the costs.
S2000 + supercharger.
How close is 15k to getting into a mk3 St?
Edit looks like they're about 18k, I'd be tempted to wait a while if you like the current car and at least try one.
Evo's & Imprezas are very reliable for the performance they give you and don't cost the earth to run, Evo's tend to be be a bit more sharper than Subaru and the top models are a bit quicker, there are advantages to both. I am starting to get a bit old now though and am looking for some comfort and refinery so I would probably steer towards the R32/S3 plus I have owned Imprezas for 7-8 years now.
You are getting some fantastic advice in this thread but you are being very defensive about the 208. Have you already made your mind up?
£15k is a budget which gets you access to some nice cars but could also be an expensive mistake.
Time to ditch the 208 idea and start again but this time work out what you want from a car.
This is what I was going to suggest. Save some more and get an RS.I'm really not a fan of the MK3. I'd rather spend the 18k on a MK2 RS
Where do you come up with this tosh from? The 208 gti has been generally well received by the motoring press.
While there're much better and faster cars to spend 15 grand on, don't pass your prejudices off as fact.
Thing is at least give the people something to work with.
Eg.
4 Seats Yep, I have a kid so i'd need some space
4 years old max 6 years old max
40,000 miles max around 50k for top end
<£300 a service I'm not to fussed about the service price as I know they can be expensive on EVOs etc..
>30mpg MPG isn't a major issue to me, I only do a 6 mile round trip to work and back, rest of the time it's just for leasure.
etc
Even without being specific there still must be some restrictions to your shopping?
Sill plenty to go pop though. 130i has no turbos and will be cheaper, worth a look if twin turbo and higher mileage puts you offI really like the look of the 135i. How reliable are they? Will I have many issues if I go for a high mileage one? I'm guessing if it's well serviced it *should* be ok.
Depends what you want from a car. You're only saying that because you're a Ford groupie.

As well received as it is (Fiesta ST is better anyway), I don't think I could deal with selling a Focus ST, spending a few thousand pounds more and then ending up in a Peugeot 208.
If what you want from a car is the following...
-Slower than what I have already
-A lot more expensive
-Not really the best in it's class
It meets those perfectly. Yes.
Picture someone that's as much of a pug whore as you are a Ford whore. There's your answer!
