A Plague Tale: Innocence

Requiem is out now on the usual store fronts. Played a bit of the start on Game Pass.

Initially looks nice but you quite quickly realise it is unoptimised, graphics look nice in motion but there are various bugs. DLSS on or off makes no difference with water, you get patchy flickering throughout water when sun is in front of you.

Mouse motion lag is evident even with vsync/dlss off.

I appear to be getting 50-70fps depending on scene, which is not acceptable for the visual quality I am seeing.

Looking deper, seems the game uses more E-Core than P-Core....

Game does not enter exclusive full screen mode and as a result GFE overlay does not detect the framerate and % lows properly etc too.

Meh, uninstalled.

Interesting. So my PC gets it running at 4K resolution, scaled down to 30% which is the lowest it will go. Nearly all the graphical settings are on low apart from textures and I get about 50fps. And yet it still looks better than the Xbox Cloud version supposedly running on Series X. Microsoft's streaming bitrate/resolution is far too low now, it needs to be in 4K like Stadia.

It's like the good old days when you had to play on low settings and then could go back in the future and replay when you had a better PC so I'll be sticking with it on my 1070 as it is quite playable.

Compared to mine:

Yours seem much darker! Did you change in game brightness?

Yes brightness calibrated using the in-game slider so the middle image is barely visible. I'm on an oled monitor so contrast is infinite maybe that's why it looks dark in the screenshot if you're on an LCD?

Even still thiugh in daylight scenes the bloom is too bright and almost Vaseline filter lol.

I have the same monitor as you! :p

Might be why, I think I just left my brightness at default.

Oh yes it's you!

I was replying from my phone in portrait mode, the forum does not show avaters or signature unless you rotate the phone in landscape mode (dodgy reactive rendering forum software innit) and I don't always look at usernames when posting and go by sigs/content instead :p

So I got the game preloaded days ago and unlocked and played it at midnight when it went live on Gamepass. The issues noted below were of that initial experience. I uninstalled the game later in the day and decided to install it again after getting RTSS set up and now I notice a new option I never saw before, NVIDIA Reflex mode, and also the E-Core usage is now 0% - The game also runs much smoother now, it's between 70fps outdoors and over 100fps indoors. This is on Ultra settings with 100% render scale at 3440x1440. Screenshots updated on link below.

It looks like they ninja-updated the game which explains why people who started playing it later in the day saw no performance issues.

I will continue playing, this is the kind of performance I was expecting
