I've noticed a lot of people getting worried/slating this game because its coming with the Halo3 Beta Invite; i.e worried MS are trying to sell a poor game with the Halo3 offer.

I urge those thinking like that to do a little more research into the game, its been into development for sometime now and is from the guy who create the GTA/Lemmings series!

The videos look great fun aswell, with seemless co-op and no boundaries aswell (you could be miles apart (obviously ingame)) this type of co-op mode recently introduce with GoW having a friend just join and carry one, though when he leaves it doesnt quit your game.

The graphics in some videos look quite poor, but the visual range is astonishing and with so much going on at once, explosions, vast city scapes, many characters on screen it doesnt appear to slow down what so ever!

A Few Links:

IGN: 10 Reasons to play Crackdown

10 Part Video Walkthrough

Gametrailers Link (Make sure you watch the Co-Op one if any at all - 2nd one down under Gameplay i think)

This game look a hell of a lot of fun, and if the MS Certification process didnt bodge up we coulda had a demo today (both SP and Co-Op) it has been confirmed before the end of Jan though, with the games retail release being Feb 23rd (i think) for the UK.

So please at least try the demo before thinking they have added the beta invite simply because its a pap game - i think its more because its an MS Studios game and one of the earlier releases from them before the beta is due to start and they wanna make sure people have the chance, nothing more.

/Edit

Also just say you got the game a few weeks after release and your character stats were not good enough and you kept dieing on a mission, (according to the sites official forums) you could have a friend who is a higher character either a) jump in and help in co-op mode, or b) send tehre characters DNA to you to allow you to have their abilities for a 5minute window :D

I seriously suggest you watch the 10 part walkthrough its very good

Couldn't agree more. The game looks like something special and I'm really looking forward to it brightening up a cold, dull February.

I was going to be giving the demo a blast anyway.

Looks a pretty funky game from a trailer I saw.

I see the halo 3 beta test as a bonus more than anything.

halo 3 beta.....

...just incase you didnt catch that - HALO 3 !!!

gonna sell loads wether its good or not, i didnt think it looked that great but im gonna get it anyway, mainly bcoz of halo 3 beta!!!!! (bow down befor halos might)

but now ive had a better opnion of the game, its reasured me that i might actuly want to play it when i buy it

I for one think it doesnt look anything special at all. Saw an E3 vid and just regarded it rubbish.

Tell me what you think when you get it! The only thing that is tipping the balance is the Halo 3 beta.

I was thinking, the Halo 3 beta invite could be looked at many ways. Yes, it will help MS sell he game, but the question is why are they doing it. Is it because the game is rubbish, or because it is actually very good, but interest is low?

If it is the later, then it could work well for them. A nice boost in sales, and in PR terms.

I remember getting Zone of Enders on PS2, this game was awesome! You got a Metal Gear Solid 2 demo with that. This game was released like a year before MGS2.

While it didnt sell the game for me it was a nice bonus from kojima!

I was going to give this a miss, the early videos I saw didnt strike me as anything amazing. But that preview did make it sound like a lot of fun.

I will buy this if i can ensure my place in the Halo 3 beta. But as of the moment there is no CLEAR information on how to enter the beta. Ive read a million websites and even the official bungie one doesnt state whether playing halo 2 for 3 hours is just in-game time or what?.. + places state "specially marked crackdown boxes".. if i order online.. how will i know?! ArG.. i must be part of Halo 3 beta!

Crackdown is the only way to GUARANTEE that you get placement, no doubt itll come with a beta code or something for you to use in the dvd case.

I was looking forward to the Crackdown demo which was supposed to have been today (the 18th) but it's been put back due to acceptance testing by MS with no word of when it will appear, other than it will be with us before the end of the month :(

I must admit that I'm actually more interested in Crackdown than the Halo3 beta. As I really doubt the the Halo3 multi player beta will offer anything new at all, too many years of playing online FPS on the PC will do that to you.

No one knows for sure yet, the Halo 3 forums are aflame with people asking where they can get these "special" Crackdown copies with the code and if they are only available in the US or if they are only available through pre-order.
