Every now and then I get wierd image processing on my screen, for example if I minimize a window, sometimes it'l be a smooth animation of the window being minimized, but other times it could look like a black smeer of stretched blackness... it's hard to explain lol.

Is there a program or somthing I can get to test my card?

It's a brand new 8800, so I would have thought it should be fine. It's cliped into the port properly...

I'm using the latest forceware driver from the nvidia site.

Any help would be appriciated :)

directx in your control panel has some tests but artifact testing is probably best to put our mind at rest. Most likely to be software tbh

Check your card has enough power too

Running the ATi app now.

How long should I run it for? it's at the 3 minute mark with no errors.

EDIT: btw, am I supose to be hearing a kind'a sqeeky noise while running this? because I can

Well is it a continuous program?

If not then it will stop of its own accord, but if it is continuous try playing a game.

Is the squeak from gfx Card?

It's hard to tell

It might be the PSU, or the GFX card... it only does it when I use the 3D app and artifact app... umm

EDIT: Think it's the PSU thats squeeky - When I put full load on the CPU or GPU or anything I hear the noise. To much power being drawn or somthing I guess... it's brand new, maybe it's ware-off thing over a few weeks? :p

You run it for as long as you like, the longer the better. Keep an eye on the counter though as everytime an artifact is detected the timer will reset.

Where does the noise come from?? My previous PSU used to squeek when under load. What PSU do you have?

3D Mark 06 is also a good stability test. I would use ATI Tool initially to reach the highest stable clocks, then run 3D'06 to double check stability.

OCZ GameXStream 850W.

So far so good on the card testing, think i'm gonna have to buy a new PSU thought, it also makes a high pitched noise when the PC is shutdown

It's not that it doesn't work, it's just realy annoying :(

Do you have any problems playing games/3D apps, or is it just a 2D windows issue?

If it's confined to 2D/Desktop, then testing for artifacts in 3D probably won't help.

Can you reproduce the problem, or is it entirely random?

I havn't played any games yet, I could install one and try it I guess

EDIT: The above image, it only happens for a slit second, then everything is normal display.

Artifacts usually resemble very bad 70's style hippy patterns
Such as:

If it dont look like that then dont worry too much as usually it will be junky software and conflicts, etc.
Check the temp of the card regularly of course, 60 or 70 is still good. Try and keep your case temp down as well, 40 or below is good (enough)
