A project too far?

Aye. I love the complications of the V12s, like the fact that you have two separate engine management systems - one for each bank - to diagnose and maintain :D

Costly multiplier too: 12 plugs, 14 HT leads, two expensive distributor caps and rotor arms, odds and sods like that.

Tough engines though, mechanically at least.

You're not wrong ... both myself and Howard at the mention of ignition gremlins just said 'change the leads etc.' ... not realising just the leads is a £150 job! Just the parts of a service is hilarious!

Fantastic! this is the kind of thing im into so i can be a bit enthusiastic about it. Your friend will have a great car when he gets its back on the road.

Once you get your head around the suspension it shouldnt look so bad. Ive sorted out a few SLS systems now and its quite straight forward, usually its just a case of replacing corroded lines or a shock. try and keep the original set up rather than dumping it for conventional shocks.

it looks solid but before he spends a penny get hunting for any rust or any dodgy repairs, last think you want is get going then realize it needs some serous work to get it going.

Im sure a proper service will resolve the ignition problems
