Hi folks

I've just upgraded from single to dual core without reformatting and I installed Bioshock when I was running single core. My question is will I need to uninstall and re-install Bioshock in order for it to "detect" and take advantage of my dual core or should it detect it ok and run optimised with no problems?

as always thanks for any help :)

Seriously you should reformat. When I upgraded to dual core, windows detected both cores and dual core apps were using 100% according to the task manager, however I still only got single core performance until I reformatted, even though I had installed dual core drivers and amds dual core optimiser.

i had dual core drives intalled when i swapped out my single core for a dual core running windows xp but i still got lots of issues such as crashing etc. so i just stuck vista on and all dual core issues were gone, just compatability problems came but most are sorted now thanks to the updates for vista.

I've swapped processers to more cored alternatives and not had any problems requiring a re-install.
Done this with both AMD and Intel processers, aswell as single - dual, dual - quad.

I noticed a folder in the BioShock DVD called "AMD Dual Core Timing Fix". Does this need to be ran or is it done during setup?

Cheers. :)

EDIT: Nevermind, just checked and it looks like it's just the AMD Optimiser. So guess it doesn't need installing then.
