Hey guys,
Have been toying with the idea of possibly buying a DSLR maybe for Christmas or a few months after. I was just browsing through different DSLR online and a question popped into my head. Does all DSLR Lenses fit on all DSLR cameras. For an example say if I had a Pentax K100D would a Nikon brand Lens fit on it?(sorry my knowledge on DSLR is a bit rubbish).

they're not all interchangeable, no.

Pentax k100d.. Pentax KAF2, KAF, KA mount
Nikon d50.. Nikkor AF / F-mount, D-Type

The major players in the DSLR market, Canon & Nikon have a huge range of lens.
SONY DSLR will use SONY & some recent Minolta Knoica lens.
As for the other makes I am do not have that much knowledge about.

Good tip, buy a few Camera magerzines and have a read on the articles & Ads.
This will give you some insight into the whole DSLR world.
This can be a big money spend area ! !

SONY DSLR will use SONY & some recent Minolta Knoica lens.
Sony Alpha will use every Minolta or Konica Minolta lens for the MAF mount back to 1985.
& plenty of third party (Sigma, Tamron etc.) lenses for the MAF mount too.

Basically, they'll only take their own brand lenses and lenses of a suitable mount made by companies like Sigma who produce lenses with different mounts to fit most cameras.

The 2 major Non DSLR & SLR lens manufactors are Sigma & Tamron.
There some others that may specialiase in say wide angle lens, though it is the main 2 that produce both the best non Nikon & Canon lens
