A question about hotlinking

If you hotlink from a site which isn't photobucket or the likes which allows hotlinking is this allowed?

e.g. http://xkcd.com/658/ gives a hotlinking link underneath.

But is it just a blanket rule to stop any misshaps?

to hard to identify what is and isnt hotlinking with stuff like that. best to stick to the obvious uploaders

Thanks for that mate, just wanted to know as my photobucket is a bit gay at times and I can be lazy, I tend to just link to the image tho

I right click a picture, click 'rehost' and it uploads it to my ftp, then gives me a the url to it on my clipboard

allows you to rename it too

like this!

edit, also allows uplods to imageshack, but I've never used that

Basically I don't trust anything that isn't image shack and co. You just never know if they will decide to replace stuff.

My sig has a few addons / locations but TBH I think you know them all. I ended up just using my website

Personal is fine, it's what I use. Just make certain to inform the mods in a few posts so that they know.

i use tinypic, its faster than imageshack (less ads) and gives a small link too.

edit: or picoodle as it seems. my sig is hosted there :S

I never bothered to let the mods know about me using my own webspace, it's the same as my username so quite blatantly obvious.
