A question about lodgers

Personally i would give him 50% discount,makes you a nice landlord
I make him do little housework (none if he is not here at weekends) and feel the price he pays is a touch under the going rate as he has a parking space on the drieway.
I think I will discount him the utilities that he won't be using but giving him 50% off is too much imo.
I rent a room.
The rent is the rent to cover the room. The rent includes all utilities - No split amounts. If she is not there, she is not there. She is paying for the room, it is not a hotel or hostel. Full rent regardless. She might choose to go on holiday, another person might not. Her choice.
That said, I only charge £70 a week anyway.

If you've got a good lodger then give them a small discount for the month it's a gesture that won't see you too much out of pocket and will build good will with them meaning they are more likely to stay longer. Everytime a lodger leaves you'll get a rent gap that will give you a much bigger financial hit and you'll also run the weird nut job risk when looking for a new one!

Small discount seems fair enough. You're under no obligation afaik but having a lodger on good terms can't hurt
